Biography
Ambassador LEE Bom-yon joined the Korean Council on Foreign Relations as vice-chairman after he retired from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2019. Ambassador Lee served as Korean Ambassador to Jordan for three years from 2016, where he actively played a role representing the Republic of Korea, one of the key donor members supporting Jordan and the international organizations to overcome the human security crisis in the turmoil of the Syrian war and war against ISIS. Ambassador Lee was the Korean Consul-General in Sendai, Japan from 2012 to 2015. He made his utmost efforts to enhance Korea-Japan bilateral relations and tried to contribute to the local communities’ efforts in overcoming the natural disaster of the East Japan earthquake and consequent tsunami that occurred in March 2011. Ambassador Lee graduated from the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies of the University of Washington, USA in 1987 with a master's degree in International Relations.
