Biography

After a career dedicated to teaching and educational politics, Philippe HANSCH is the Director of the World Center for Peace, Liberties, and Human Rights in Verdun – France. As Verdun is well known for its battle during WW1, his daily challenge is to exceed this single-year period to lead the visitors considering the whole of European history, especially in its contemporary relationships, including European values.
Fully convinced by the development of the French and German Relationships to strengthen European construction, Philippe HANSCH was honored with the Prize of the French and German Friendship. In 2022, his new project has permitted the birth of an official French and German cake, as a real symbol of discussion between two different cultures.
Specialist of the official presents given during official visits and meetings between leaders, Philippe HANSCH manages the collections of the presents received by the French Presidents (including those given to Se Emmanuel MACRON), using them in exhibitions to explain international relationships.
Since 2015, the World Center for Peace explains the conflict in the east of Ukraine. Of course, since the beginning of the war, Philippe HANSCH has decided to strengthen these explanations. In daily contact with the resistance in Ukraine, he has developed several exhibitions and helped the resistance to present them around the world, especially in the Peace cities, including of course Jeju: “Showing the real faces of the war is necessary to keep the support of Ukraine as long as necessary to protect its democracy”.
