Biography
현 제주평화연구원 박사후 연구원. 서울대학교 외교학과를 졸업하고 동대학원에서 석사학위를 받은 후 미국 아이오와 대학교 (University of Iowa) 정치학과에서 박사학위를 취득하였다. 국제법과 국제조약, 정책과 조약의 전파, 권위주의 국가의 인권조약 가입과 준수 등이 주요 관심 분야이다. 올해 Asian Survey와 『현대정치연구』에 논문을 실었다.
Ryu, Ki Eun is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Jeju Peace Institute. She received a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in international relations from Seoul National University and she received a PhD degree in political science in 2020 from the University of Iowa. Her dissertation “Dynamics of International Treaty Diffusion” explores how diffusion models explain the spread of international multilateral treaties across countries. Her main research area is international law and treaty, especially on the diffusion of policies and treaties. She is also interested in the link between domestic politics and international behavior such as the relationship of regime type and treaty ratification/compliance. She recently published articles on Asian Survey and Journal of Contemporary Politics.
