Biography
Kang Taeg LIM received a doctorate in North Korea's foreign trade at the State University of New York (Albany) in 1996. From 1997 to 2018, he worked at the Institute for Unification, a state-run research institute, and conducted various studies on North Korea's economy, inter-Korean economic cooperation, Northeast Asian economic cooperation, and economic integration measures. From 2013 to February 2018, while serving as the policy chairman of the Korean Council for Reconciliation and Cooperation, he also participated in various civic activities for inter-Korean unification and national reconciliation and cooperation. Since the inauguration of the Moon Jae-in government, he has been a member of the expert advisory group of the Unification Policy Innovation Committee and the Inter-Korean Summit Preparation Committee and has actively participated in the establishment of the government's North Korea policy. From May 2019 to January 2020, he served as the president of the Korean Institution for National Unification. Recently, he has been interested in research on peace and co-prosperity in Northeast Asia using the U.N. SDGs and is focusing on research to prepare sustainable development measures on the Korean Peninsula.
