Biography

Hyo-Yong Sung is a professor of economics at Sungshin Women’s University. Since 1999 Sung has lectured and conducted research on feminism and economics, with a special interest in human capital investment and economic growth. Sung served as Dean of the College of Social Sciences at Sungshin University. She was President of the Korean Women's Economic Association and served as a member of the Board of the Korean Economic Association. Sung also served as a member of the board of directors at the Industrial Bank of Korea(IBK) and Kiwoom Securities Co., Ltd.
Sung is currently an auditor of Women Corporate Directors Korea and a member of the Finance Committee at the International Association of Feminist Economics(IAFFE). Sung raised gender issues within Korean society when she hosted the 2017 IAFFE Annual Conference, with the theme “Gender Inequalities in a Multipolar World.” Her current projects include diversity and inclusion with the aim of contributing to a change in Korean society’s perception of gender inequality. As well as works in Korean, she co-authored “Application of ESG Measures for Gender Diversity and Equality at the Organizational Level in a Korean Context” in The European Journal of Training and Development (30 October 2020).
