Biography

John J. Lee is the CEO of Meritz Asset Management a Korea-domiciled asset manager established in 2008.
Prior to Meritz, Mr. Lee was a Managing Director and a senior portfolio manager at Lazard Asset Management. Prior to Lazard, Mr. Lee was a Managing Director at Scudder Stevens and Clark (Later acquired by Deutsche Bank) where he managed ‘The Korea Fund’ from 1991 until he joined Lazard in 2005. The Korea Fund was the first NYSE-listed closed-end fund to invest in Korea. In 2014, John Lee returned to Korea as CEO of Meritz Asset Management and focused on changing Korea’s investment culture. In order to change society’s misconception about investing in the stock market, John Lee has met with more than 50,000 people through over 1,000 lectures during the past seven years. He has also launched “John Lee Lifestyle and Stocks” on YouTube in order to promote financial literacy and convey his own experience and long-term philosophy to investors in his home country. Mr. Lee, published books in Korea titled “Why Equities”, “Buy Stocks, Buy Future”,” John Lee’s Habit to become rich“ and ”John Lee’s Escape from Finance Illiteracy“
