Biography
Cindy Ryu is serving her 6th term as a Representative in the Washington State Legislature. She was born in Korea, moved to Brunei in 1967, and then USA in 1969 via Manila. After receiving a B.S. in Microbiology and an MBA from the University of Washington, Seattle, and working for the City of Seattle, she ran a successful insurance agency with her husband Cody Ryu(류창명 목사님). In 2008, Rep. Ryu became the first Korean American female mayor in the USA before serving in the Legislature where she chairs the Community and Economic Development Committee. She also serves as Chair of the Board of Women In Government and is finishing out her 6th year as Chair of the Overseas Korean Politicians Council.
