Sunggon Kim was inaugurated as the president of the Overseas Koreans Foundation in November 2020. He graduated from Korea University with a history department and received a doctorate in religious philosophy from Temple University. He served as the 31st Secretary General of the National Assembly of Korea, a member of the 15th, 17th, 18th, and 19th National Assembly. He was the former president of the <Corporation; PEACE>, the honorary chairman for the <Asian Conference on Religious and Peace>, the chairman for <the National Assembly National Defense Committee>, and the secretary-general of the <Korean Conference of Religions for Peace>.
