Mrs Karin Gatt Rutter has over 20 years of EU civil service and diplomatic experience in the field of external relations and is currently a senior member of the Iran Task Force under the direct supervision of the Deputy Secretary General of the European External Action Service. In the Iran Task Force, she focuses on Iran’s foreign policy with specific attention to regional dynamics and neighboring countries. Before that, she worked extensively with the countries in the Middle East including in diplomatic postings in Cairo and Jerusalem. In addition to her experience in the Middle East, she led the EU’s policy definition work and implementation in the field of Security Sector Reform in 2015-16, has worked on the European Neighbourhood Programme with a focus on countries in the South Caucasus region and for the European Commission on the EU 2004 enlargement.
