Dr. Seunghwan Kim is currently a professor of physics and a director of TJPI at POSTECH, Pohang, Korea. After receiving a Ph.D in physics from U. Pennsylvania in the USA, he worked as a research fellow at MSRI and CAM at Cornell University and IAS in Princeton. He served as the Director of the Brain Research Center, Dean of Research Affairs, and Dean of Graduate Studies at POSTECH and contributed to the advancement of multi-lateral academic activities and developments in the Asia Pacific region as President of the Korean Physical Society and President of the Association of Asia-Pacific Physical Societies. He has been actively involved with the promotion of science diplomacy as President of the Korean Foundation for Advancement of Science and Creativity (KOFAC), President of the Science Diplomacy Club, Chairman of the Science Diplomacy committee at KOFST, and a Korean member of FMSTAN.
