Biography
Jonghwa KIM is a full professor of Intelligent Systems Engineering at Cheju Halla University. In 2016-2019, he was a professor of Computer Science at the University of Science and Technology in Daejeon, Korea, and from 2002 to 2016 at the University of Augsburg, Germany. He is a specialist in artificial emotional intelligence and bio-inspired computational intelligence with a strong record of the most highly-cited papers in the area. He led a number of international research teams in EU IST projects such as HUMAINE, CALLAS, CEEDS, and METABO. He is a Chief Director of the Future Culture & Technology Research Initiative (FCTRI) consisting of seven top-level interdisciplinary research centers specialized in ICT, AI, industrial design, e-mobility, and life science. He earned his Ph.D. degree in Communication Engineering from the Technical University of Berlin, Germany in 2003, and his Habilitation Dr. degree in Computer Science from the University of Augsburg in 2010. He is serving as the associate editor-in-chief of the MDPI journal SIGNALS.
