Major General (ret.) Yao Yunzhu is currently an Academic Committee member of the Center for International Security and Strategy, at Tsinghua University and has been Director of the Center on China-American Defense Relations at the People’s Liberation Army’s Academy of Military Science in China. A prominent analyst of Asia-Pacific security issues, and China-US defense relations, she has published and translated numerous books and articles on military and security issues. She first joined the PLA in 1970, was elected a member of the 10th National People’s Congress in 2003, and a member of the 17th CCP Congress in 2007.
