Biography
John Delury is an Associate Professor of Chinese Studies at Yonsei University Graduate School of International Studies in Seoul, where he teaches modern China history, US-China relations, and North Korean history and politics. He is the author, with Orville Schell, of Wealth and Power: China's Long March to the Twenty-first Century, and is at work on two book manuscripts—a diplomatic and intelligence history of Sino-US relations in the Cold War, and a political history of North Korea. He contributes regularly to Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, and 38 North, and serves as associate managing editor of Global Asia. He is a senior fellow of the Asia Society and Pacific Century Institute and a member of the Council of Foreign Relations, National Committee on US-China Relations, and National Committee on North Korea. Before joining Yonsei, he taught at Brown, Columbia, and Peking University, and was associate director of the Asia Society Center on US-China Relations. He received his BA, MA, and PhD in history from Yale University.
