Biography
Dr. Kim Kyun-Tae majored in nuclear engineering at Seoul National University and KAIST and received his doctorate in 1991 at KAIST. From 1990 to now, he has worked at KINS and built up over 10 years of practical experience in auditing accident analyses and investigating events. He has undergone the position of manager in the technical standards department and next generation reactor safety department and the position of director in the nuclear safety division. In 2012 ~ 2014, he was an advisor to the Nuclear Safety & Security Commission chairman. Recently, he has been leading projects, concentrating on strengthening the safety of NPPs, reflecting the lessons learned from the Fukushima accident, such as the Vienna Declaration on Nuclear Safety (Feb. 9, 2015), the Task Force for preparing severe accident regulation, and the development of methodology for radiation effect analysis of the severe accident. He is currently working as director of the Emergency Preparedness Division in KINS.
Since 2009, he has been a secretary at the Korean Nuclear Society and a vice president for the policy division since 2014.
