Jun Hyun Hong has been Professor of the School of Public Service, at Chung-Ang University in Seoul since 2002. Previously he was Vice President for International Affairs, Dean of International Education, and Director of Policy and Public Administration Institute. Besides university positions, he has served as a policy advisor to various central and local governments, as President of the Korean Association of Foreign Student Administrators, the Korean Association of Policy Analysis and Evaluation, and as Vice President of the Korean Association of Local Government Studies. Due to his continuous public services, he was awarded the President Service Merit Medal, Prime Minister's Citation, and Minister of the Interior & Safety Citation. He earned a Ph.D. in public policy research and analysis from the University of Pittsburgh, and an MPA and BA from Seoul National University
