Biography
Born on December 13, 1959, Hahn Sun-hwa has worked for KISTI since 1999, serving as head of the Information Technology Development Group, head of the Advanced Information Research Institute, and as the seventh president from 2014 to 2017. During her term, she promoted Open Science to innovate science and technology by sharing research results, equipment, and data. She later served as the policy director of the National Research Council of Science and Technology, which oversees 25 government-funded research institutes. She also played a leading role in NGOs such as vice-president of the Korea Women Scientists and Engineers Association, co-chairman of the Citizens’ Coalition for Scientific Society, and vice-chairman of the KOFST. She was awarded the Order of Science and Technology in 2011.
