Biography
Kyung-Suk Choi is the 4th president of the Korea Disabled People’s Development Institute (KODDI). After majoring in Architectural Engineering at Cheongju University, she studied Social Welfare and Women's Studies at Busan National University to improve the human rights of disabled people. She is a founding member of the Busan Differently Abled Women Solidarity, and she served as the secretary, director, and representative of the Sexual Violence Counseling Center, and as a co-representative of Korea Differently Abled Women United, to work for women with disabilities which is a blind spot in human rights for people with disabilities. Various activities were conducted, such as education, vocational training, sports projects, and counseling and support for victims of sexual violence. In 2007, she served as a standing member of the National Human Rights Commission for Korea, the first time for a person with disabilities. In 2018, she served as a member of the Presidential Commission on Policy Planning and then as the director of the Korea Disabled People’s Development Institute (KODDI), making continuous efforts to develop policies for disabled people and support their self-reliance.
