Biography
Minister of the Interior and Safety Jeon Hae-cheol is a South Korean lawyer and a member of the National Assembly, who took office as the third Minister of the Interior and Safety in December 2020. While serving as the Senior Secretary to the President for Civil Affairs and Justice at the Office of the President, he promoted the reform of power organizations. And, as a member of the 19th, 20th, and 21st National Assembly, he served in key positions such as the Executive Secretary of the Judiciary Committee, the National Policy Committee and the Special Committee on Budget and Accounts, and the Chairman of the Intelligence Committee. He is also a member of various government committees such as the Presidential Committee on Autonomy and Decentralization, the Presidential Committee for Balanced National Development, and the Committee on Green Growth. As the Minister of the Interior and Safety, he oversees policies on decentralization and balanced development, public safety and government innovation, and so forth.
