Joanne Doornewaard has been ambassador for the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Republic of Korea since August 2019. Prior to moving to Seoul, she served 4 years as the Dutch ambassador in Sri Lanka, also covering the Maldives. Previous postings include Poland and Mexico. Representing the Netherlands and being a female ambassador, she has a strong opinion on climate change issues and gender equality. Having a background in landscape architecture she has a keen interest in architecture and sustainability. Joanne is married and has two daughters.
