Biography
Dr. Intaek Han is President of the Jeju Peace Institute (JPI), a non-profit, non-partisan peace research institute located in Jeju, South Korea. Dr. Han concurrently serves as the Chair of the Executive Committee of the Jeju Forum for Peace and Prosperity, a regional multilateral security dialogue that his institute annually organizes. Since joining JPI in 2009, he has served in various positions including the Director of Research, the Director-General of the Jeju Forum Secretariat, and the Director of the International Peace Center Jeju. Dr. Han has been researching nuclear strategy (personal interest) and security cooperation (the mission of his institute) and regularly consults the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Korea Foundation on public diplomacy. He has served on the editorial boards of major journals such as The Korean Political Science Review and The Korean Journal of International Studies. Before joining JPI, he taught at Ewha Women’s University, the University of Washington, Seattle, and the University of California, Davis. Dr. Han received his Ph.D. in political science from the University of California, Berkeley, and his M.A. in political science and B.A. in economics from Seoul National University.
