Biography
Hyunsang Muk was nominated in August 2020 as the President of “The National Project for Development of COVID-19 Vaccine and Treatment, a similar program to Operation Warp Speed in the USA. He has also been the President of the Korea Drug Development Fund since 2016. KDDF is a government agency which provides R&D grant and scientific support to Academia and pharmaceutical companies to develop innovative new drugs. During the last 9 years, 162 projects have had R&D grants. These 162 projects embrace all the major successful drug development projects in Korea. Hyunsang Muk has spent most of his time and energy building a bridge between the science community and the pharmaceutical industry while also creating a strong and robust global network to collaborate in the development of innovative new drugs. He also has played an active role in public services; as director of the Korea BIO association, member of National Academy of Engineering Korea, and adjunct professor of Yonsei University.
