Biography

Charles Sabga holds a Bachelor of Laws degree (LL.B.) (Honours) from the University of Southampton, United Kingdom, a Master of Law Degree (LLM) in Public International Law from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a Postgraduate Diploma in Mediation from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad. Before assuming duties as the Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Mission in Seoul, he served as Head of the ICRC Office in Port of Spain (2006-2010), ICRC Delegate for Caribbean Community States (2010-2012), ICRC Regional Legal Adviser based in New Delhi for South Asia and Iran (2012-2014), ICRC Legal Adviser at the ICRC Headquarters in Geneva (2014-2017), Deputy Head of Delegation and Legal Adviser of the ICRC’s Permanent Observer Mission to the United Nations (2017-2018) and ICRC Diplomatic Adviser for Asia and the Pacific region (2018-2019). Before joining the ICRC, he also worked in the Human Rights Unit, Ministry of the Attorney General of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
