Biography

Jehun Lee, born in Seoul on October 3, 1965, is a senior writer of Hankyoreh Media’s Unification and Foreign Affairs Team. He joined Hankyoreh Newspaper in 1993, and served as editor and director of Hankyoreh’s International Affairs and Social Policy Team, editor-in-chief of Hankyoreh 21, and head of Hankyoreh Newspaper’s labor. Since July 1998, he has been in –charge of coverage related to inter-Korean relations and other affairs on the Korean peninsula, including the start and suspension of the Mt. Geumgang tours and the Kaesong Industrial Complex project, 5 inter-Korean summits, 6 nuclear tests in North Korea, the death of North Korean leader Kim Jong-il, and his succession by Kim Jong-un. He is also a policy advisor of the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a member of the planning committee of the Korean Peninsula Peace Forum. He received a doctorate in North Korean studies with a dissertation titled, “Northern Policy of the Roh Tae-woo Administration and the Asymmetrical De-cold War.”
