Biography

Dr. Seung Jick Yoo is a Professor in the department of Convergence of Climate and Environmental Studies, Sookmyung Women’s University. He was the President of Greenhouse Gas Inventory & Research Center of Korea (GIR), a government organization in the Ministry of Environment since 2010. GIR was established to set and monitor the implementation of the national GHGs reduction target by 2020 in 2009, in which the national GHGs reduction target was first announced in COP 15. He has been working as a Senior Economist at the Presidential Committee on Green Growth in 2009 and had also been on the Presidential Committee of Northeast Asia Initiative during 2005~2006. He was the Director of the Climate Change Policy Division in 2007~2008 and the Managing Director of Center for Energy Research, Northeast Asia(CERNA) of Korea Energy Economics Institute during 2004~2005. He got a Ph.D in Environmental and Resource Economics from the University of California at Berkeley in 1995. His works include issues on the Energy and Environmental Issues, including Global Climate Change, setting and implementing the mid- and long-term GHGs targets, Energy Conservation Policies, and Trade of Energy Products in the Northeast Asia among others.
