Buyoung Lee served three terms of the National Assembly membership, mainly working in the Committee of Unification, Foreign Affairs, and Trade. He works in a couple of citizen's groups, Peace Asia and the Preparing Committee of the Peace Council of East Asia. He has been probing possibilities for Korean-Japanese and East Asian Networks in the wake of the latest crises of North Korean nuclear threat and military confrontations. He participated in various free press activities, democratization, and peaceful unification. He studied political science at Seoul National University in the early 1960s and worked for Donga Daily Newspaper from 1968 to 1975.
