
Biography
ZHANG Zhongyi, born on January 16, 1967, in Shandong Province, China, is a well-known media professional and expert on Korean peninsula and East Asian issues. He currently serves as Deputy Secretary-General of the Charhar Institute, and Directors of the Institute’s Korean Peninsula Peace Research Centre and Yonsei-Charhar Centre. He is an alumnus of Kim Il-sung University. In his early career, he worked for Xinhua News Agency and was posted in the Republic of Korea as the agency’s first correspondent. Later on, he was appointed as Executive President and Editor-in-Chief at the Korean edition of ChinaPictorial, and Editor-in-Chief at Aju Business Daily based in the ROK. Meanwhile, he was a visiting professor at Seoul Media Institute of Technology and Kyonggi University.
