Professor Il-seon Choi completed his doctorate in adult education at Pennsylvania State University in the USA. He has taught and researched older adults’ learning in Korea for over 10 years. He is currently a professor of lifelong education in Kyung Hee University, South Korea and the president of Korean Society of Educational Gerontology. His main research interests include older adult’s learning, lifelong learning policy, and comparative study between East Asian Countries. He co-authored several journal articles about the comparison between Korea and Japan (2012, 2016, 2018). He planned and hosted the 15th Seoul International Gerontology Symposium in 2020 focusing on the policy and practice of older adults’ learning in East Asian countries of China, Taiwan, and Japan.

최일선 교수는 미국 펜실베니아주립대에서 성인교육을 전공으로 박사학위를 취득했다. 이후 대통령자문교육혁신위원회, 한국교육개발원, 국가평생교육진흥원에서 연구원으로 근무한 바 있으며, 경희대학교 교육대학원 평생교육전공 주임교수로 부임하여 10년 넘게 노인교육에 대해 가르치고 연구하고 있다. 그는 현재 한국노년교육학회 회장이고 한국평생교육학회 이사이다. 그의 주요 연구 주제는 노인교육, 평생교육정책, 동아시아 국가간 비교연구 등이다. 그는 한국과 일본의 노인교육 비교에 관한 논문을 여러 편 썼으며, 동아시아 국가들의 노인교육 정책과 실천을 주제로 2020년 10월에 개최된 제15회 서울국제노년학 심포지움을 기획하고 운영했다.
