Byung-Hwan Hyeon served as Director of the Biotechnology Policy Research Center at the Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology, a government-funded national research institute in Korea. Many national plans related to the promotion of biotechnology have been established, including the National Basic Plan for Biotechnology Promotion, a cross-ministerial plan that leads the development and industrialization of biotechnology in Korea. While working for a long time in decision-making bodies related to national project planning, policy, and evaluation, such as the National Science and Technology Commission, he pursued efforts to improve the productivity of the national business system. He has written 4 books, 60 papers, and 220 reports on national project planning, management, and commercialization. Currently, he teaches strategic planning and technology commercialization at Daejeon University and serves as the head of the National Business Division for Biohealth Startup Support, supporting bio company startup, fostering, education, and advancement to the US.
