Kim earned a Ph.D. in modern Korean history from Sungkyunkwan University. Kim is currently a Senior Researcher at the National Institute of Korean History. His books include Why in Our History, The Birth of Red, Korean Modern History and Socialism, Another War in War, and Yeo-Sun Incident Collection 1-4.
