Biography

Dong-Choon Kim was born in 1959 in Yeongju, North Gyeongsang Province. He graduated from Seoul National University's College of Education and earned his master's and doctorate degrees from the same graduate school of sociology. From 2005 to 2009, he served as a standing member of the Committee for the Settlement of Past History for Truth and Reconciliation. In 2004, he was one of the "100 People Who Will Open Korea's Future," which won the 20th Danjae Prize in 2006 and the 15th Song Geon-ho Media Award in 2016. He is currently a professor of social science at Sungkonghoe University, dean of NGO graduate school at the same university, and director of the Association for the Commemoration of the Democratic Movement-Korea Institute of Democracy
The books include "The Social Movement of the 1960s," "The Study of Korean Social Workers," "New Search for Korean Social Sciences," "Division and Society," and "War and Society. "War and Society" was the "Korean Book 100" by the organizing committee of the guest countries of the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2005, translated and introduced in German English, and Japanese.
