Biography
Gil-Hyun Yang obtained his Ph.D. in Political Science from Seoul National University in 1999 and is a professor of Ethics Education at Jeju National University (JNU). His specialty is in peace studies. Before he joined the faculty of JNU in 1999, he worked as a research fellow and research professor at the Institute for Far Eastern Studies, Kyungnam University for 15 years. He worked as the director of the Institute for Peace as the chair of the Faculty Association of JNU. He has actively participated in several organizations of peace practice, such as the National Unification Advisory Council, the Presidential Committee on Northeast Asian Cooperation Initiative, Jeju Global Society, Jeju Council for Peace Island, Jeju Center of Unification Education, and Jeju Forum for Peaceful Unification. Recently, he has been deeply involved in social economy as the leader of a social cooperative named ‘Haorm.’
