- 1997-1998: Acting Director General/ Deputy Director General, ASEAN Department
- 1998-2001: Director General, International Organizations and Economic Department
- 2001-2009: Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the of Myanmar, New York.
- 2004, 2006, 2008: Vice President of the UN General Assembly
- 2004: Chairman, Special Political and Decolonization Committee of the General Assembly
- 2007: Vice President of the Bureau of the UNICEF Executive Board.
- 2011-2013: Vice Chair, Myanmar National Human Rights Commission.
- 2009-2015: Representative of Myanmar to the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights
