Biography
송민순은 북한대학원대학교의 총장을 역임했으며 2006년부터 2008년까지 대통령비서실 통일외교안보정책실장과 노무현 전대통령의 재임시절 외교통상부 장관을 역임한바 있다. 2008년부터 2012년까지 국회의원으로 지냈으며 외교통상통일위원회의 위원으로 지냈다. 직업 외교관으로서, 2005년 9월 19일 한반도 비핵화 원칙에 합의하는 공동선언문을 발표한 6자회담의 수석대표로 지냈다. 또한 제네바에서 진행된 한반도 평화회의 (1999)와 남북국방장관회담(2000)에 참여하였다. 2001년부터 2003년까지 주폴란드공화국 대사로 재임했다. 또 독일, 인도, 미국 그리고 싱가포르에 파견되었으며 외무부장관보자관, 외무부 미주국 북미 심사관 외교통상부 북미국 국장 등 여러 직위를 맡은 바 있다. 서울대학교에서 독어독문학을 전공하였다.
MR Song Minsoon, Former President of University of North Korean Studies, was Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade in the administration of President Roh Moo-Hyun from 2006 to 2008 and prior to that his National Security Advisor. From 2008-2012, he was Member of the National Assembly serving on the Foreign Affairs, Trade & Unification Committee. A career diplomat, he was chief negotiator in the Six Party Talks on the North Korean nuclear issue when the September 19 Joint Statement on Denuclearizing Korean Peninsula was adopted in 2005. He also participated in other negotiations including the Korean Peace Talks in Geneva (1999), Inter-Korean Defense Ministers’ Talks (2000). He served as Ambassador to Poland from 2001-2003. He also served in Korean missions to Germany, India, United States and Singapore. His Foreign Ministry appointments include Deputy Minister for Political Affairs, Deputy Minister for Planning and Management and Director General for North American Affairs. He has B.A. in German literature and linguistics from Seoul National University.
