Biography
유재건(한국유네스코협회연맹 회장, 전 국회 국방위원장)은 연세대학교 정치외교학과(B.A, M.A.)를 졸업한 후 브리검영 대학교 대학원(Brigham Young Univ.), 워싱턴 주립 대학교 대학원(Univ. of Washington)을 거쳐 캘리포니아 대학교 데이비스 법과대학원(Univ. of Calif. Davis)에서 법학박사가 되었다. 이 후 미국 연방정부 지역사회변호사로 활동하였고, 귀국 후 월드비전 이사, 영풍 대표이사 사장을 역임하였다. 1996년 15대 국회의원으로 정치계에 입문하여 16, 17대 국회의원으로 활동하였다. 2004년에는 국회 국방위원회 위원장을 맡았고, 2005년에는 국제의원연맹(IPU) 제3상임위원회 위원장을 역임했다. 2006년 열린우리당 의장, 열린정책연구원 원장, 2007년 국제의원연맹(IPU) 집행위원을 역임한 후 현재 한국유네스코협회연맹 회장으로 재임 중이다. MBC 시사토론, KBS 심야토론, CTS ‘나의 어머니’ 등의 방송 프로그램을 진행하기도 하였다.
Yoo Jay Kun (CEO, CGN TV; former member of the National Assembly) received his B.A. and M.A. at the Department of Political Science and Diplomacy, Yonsei University. He received M.S. from Brigham Young Univ., Ph. D in Sociology from the University of Washington, Seattle, and J.D. in Law from the University of California, Davis. He practiced law in the United States, and after returning to Korea, worked as an executive at World Vision and President of YP Books. He started his political career in 1996 as a member in the 15th, 16th, and 17th National Assemblies. Mr. Yoo held positions such as Chairman of the National Defense Committee of the National Assembly in 2004, President of the Third Standing Committee at the Inter-Parliamentary Union(IPU) in 2005, Chairman of the URI Party and its policy research institute in 2006, and member of the IPU Executive Committee in 2007. He is currently President of Korea Youth Hostels Association and CEO of CGN TV. He has also hosted television programs including debate programs at MBS and KBS, and My Mother at CTS.
