송재호 위원장은 1960년 12월 20일 제주 출생으로 유네스코 한국위원회 위원, 한국문화관광연구원 원장, 문재인 정부 국정기획자문위원 등을 지냈고, 제주대학교 관광개발학과 교수로 재임 중이며, 대통령직속 국가균형발전위원회 위원장으로서 고루 잘사는 대한민국을 위해 활약하고 있다. “지역이 강한 나라, 균형 잡힌 대한민국”을 기조로 문재인 정부 5대 국정목표 중 하나인 고르게 발전하는 지역, 4대 복합혁신과제인 자치분권과 균형발전을 실현하기 위해 취임 직후 전국을 다니며 지역혁신가, 주민, 전문가들과 유기적으로 소통하고, 분권과 포용, 혁신의 가치를 기반으로 한 균형발전을 위해 앞장서고 있다. 관련 저서로 ＜전환기 제주도 지역개발정책의 성찰과 방향＞(2003), ＜새로운 대한민국의 구상 포용국가＞(2017) 등이 있다.

SONG Jae-ho is the chairman of Presidential Committee for Balanced National Development. He has served as a commissioner of Korean National Commission for UNESCO, the president of Korea Culture and Tourism Institute, and a commissioner of Presidential Committee for Policy Planning. As the Moon Jae-in Administration has declared balanced national development as primary objective of the administration, SONG Jae-ho is pursuing policy for the balanced national development based on the values of decentralization, comprehension, and innovation by which regions play a leading role in establishing a foundation for growth. As part of this, he is actively collaborating with Regional Innovation Council and countries around the world to find ways to promote Korea to a nation with balanced development.
