Biography

Dr. Azizan Marzuki joined USM in 2009 after completing his Ph.D. in Australia. Prior to that, he worked with PLANMalaysia from 1993 until 2001. He has been appointed as an Exco member of Tourism Educators Association of Malaysia (TEAM) from 2010 until 2014, and as an Adjunct Research Associate at Flinders University, Adelaide, Australia from 2009 until 2018. Currently, he is an Academic Advisor for Urban Planning Programme with POLIMAS and the Tourism and Hospitality courses assessor with UiTM. Since 2017, he has been appointed by PLANMalaysia as an Expert Panel Member for SIA evaluation and a Committee Member for the SIA competency course. He also active as a reviewer with several refereed international journals such as Ocean and Coastal Management, Tourism Management, Current Issues in Tourism, Journal of Sustainable Tourism, Asia Pacific Journal of Tourism Research, International Journal of Culture, Tourism and Hospitality, Heliyon, Sage Open, Journal of Vacation Marketing, Tourism Planning and Development, Anatolia and others. He has also been invited to give talks accasionally at national and international levels such as Berjaya University College of Hospitality, Universiti Utara Malaysia, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak and the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia, and several international unversities such as the University of South Australia, Australia; Yokohama City University, Japan; University of Hebei, China; Indian Institute of Travel and Tourism Management, India and University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Moreover, his research interest covers a wider area such as tourism planning and development, urban and regional planning, public participation process, social impact assessment, and research methodology.
