Biography

Kwangho Jo is an Associate Research Fellow at the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute (KCTI), a government-affiliated research organization under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. His primary research focuses on regional and urban culture, as well as cultural regeneration. He has been extensively involved in providing policy research, consulting, and advisory services on a wide range of topics, including cultural spaces, cultural regeneration, cultural cities, and regional cultural policies.
His major research projects include A Study on the Designation and Support Measures for Cultural Cities (2016), A Preliminary Study for the Enforcement Decree of the Regional Culture Promotion Act (2014), and A Study on Cultural and Artistic Approaches to Community Regeneration in Urban Regeneration R&D Projects by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport – Focusing on Cultural Urban Regeneration Strategies (2014–2018). He also conducted A Study on Creating Cultural and Artistic Spaces Using Idle Facilities Such as Abandoned Industrial Sites (2014).
He has served as a policy consultant for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s Cultural Regeneration of Abandoned Industrial Facilities Project (Art Space Reinvention Project) and as a project evaluation committee member for the Presidential Committee for Balanced National Development. Currently, he is serving as a policy consultant and the chief coordinator for project implementation and support in the Ministry’s Cultural City initiative.
