Biography

Jooseop Keum is a distinguished professor of world Christianity at the Presbyterian University and Theological Seminary and director of the Korea Institute for Future Ecumenism in Seoul, Republic of Korea. He also teaches as a guest professor at Yonsei University and a research professor at Stellenbosch University in South Africa. He served the World Council of Churches (WCC) based in Geneva, Switzerland as mission director from 2007-2018. While Dr Keum was serving in Geneva, he was leading WCC to engage in the issues of peace and reconciliation in the Korean peninsula. Currently he is nominated for the position of general secretary of the WCC by the Asian churches. He received a BA, MDiv at PUTS and MTh and PhD at New College, University of Edinburgh, and two honorary doctorates from the Reformed University of Debrecen and University of Sibiu.
