Biography
Dr. Yongsoo Hwang is the Director General of KINAC at the Strategic Policy and Research Centre of the Korea Institute of Nuclear Non-proliferation and Control.
Before joining KINAC, Dr Y Hwang worked in KAERI for more than 20 years in spent fuel management. He served as a Member of the Advisory Committee for the Korean Nuclear Safety and Security Commission (NSSC) and the 1st Public and Stakeholder Engagement Task Force Team to solve the spent nuclear fuel storage issues in the ROK. He also served as an Advisory Member for the IAEA Director General for Multi-lateral Nuclear Agreement(MNA) to solve the Iranian Issues between 2004 and 2005. He worked as a Visiting Fellow at CSIS in DC until 2012.
Dr. Y Hwang received his MS and Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, majoring in Nuclear Chemical Engineering, and his BS from Seoul National University.
