Biography

Masao Okonogi is Professor Emeritus of Keio University. He was Dean of the Faculty of Law and Politics (2005-07) and Director of the Center for Area Studies (1995-99) of Keio University. He received his B.A. (1969), M.A. (1971), and Ph.D. (1986) in political science from Keio University. He studied at Yonsei University from 1972-74. From 1981-82, he was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Hawaii and George Washington University. He has published and edited numerous works, including Human Security and North Korea(2009), Crisis on the Korean Peninsula (2006), Postwar Development of Japan-Korea Relations (2005), Market, State, and International Regime (2001), North Korea During Kim Jeong Il Era (1999), The Korean Peninsula During the Post-Cold War Era (1994), North Korea at the Crossroads (1988), International Politics During the Cold War Era (1987), and Korean War (1986).
