This session is designed as a “1.5 Track Round Table on the ROK-US Energy Cooperation,” held back-to-back with the 6th ROK-US Energy Security Dialogue between the ROK Foreign Ministry and the US State Department.
The objectives of the discussion in this session are twofold: setting a new energy security agenda according to the change of energy geopolitics and arranging a comprehensive ROK-US Energy Cooperation, including prospects of cooperation by energy sources.
The ROK-US cooperation in the energy sector is important not only in strengthening the bilateral relationship but also in enhancing regional energy security by promoting “rule-based, fair, transparent energy transactions,” a reason why the two countries must expand the bilateral dialogues to explore possibilities of further cooperation in the energy sector.
