What are the geoeconomic implications of the notion of the “Indo-Pacific” region, recently advanced and promoted by the United States? This session will discuss the possibilities for concretization and expansion of the economic cooperation in the region ranging from the Pacific Ocean to the Persian Gulf, as actively encouraged by the US and Japan within the framework of the “Indo-Pacific Strategy.” In particular, the geoeconomic implications of the economic interests and diplomatic leverage in security relations that the Indo-Pacific initiative may offer to potential participants in their pursuit of common strategic goals will be explored in detail.
