East Asia is a region with ongoing crises where the Cold War and the Post-Cold War intersect because superpowers confront each other militarily while they are actively engaged in economic exchange and cooperation. This session attempts to make suggestions for how to promote East Asia to a more peaceful region from the perspective of civil society. Upon the inauguration of the new administration of South Korea, the civil society of Jeju should be able to seek out ways how to increase communication and cooperation as well as construct peace in East Asia not from the economic and military perspective only, but from the civil and social view point. The session expects invited specialists and audience to share their ideas and insights to come up with feasible strategies and a better vision for the future of peaceful and prosperous East Asia.
