The trilateral ROK-Japan-U.S. relationship is critical to peace, stability, and prosperity across Asia. As security challenges diversify in the region, the importance of robust trilateral cooperation is becoming more apparent. The three countries have delivered some success in greater collaboration in recent months. However, there is much room for improvement. In the immediate neighborhood, North Korea presents urgent military and humanitarian challenges that one country alone cannot solve. On a regional level, more transparency and greater information-sharing in the trilateral relationship would help the countries manage ongoing territorial disputes. The panelists will discuss the trilateral relationship's current role and future functions in this context. They will discuss how the relationship has adjusted recently and where it can be improved to promote shared interests more effectively.
