Top universities in the world have been establishing overseas campuses, trending towards the expansion of cross-border global education services and internationalization of higher education. Many Asian countries are actively inviting top foreign universities in order to foster high-quality native manpower. As part of an educational infrastructure, a national project is underway to transform Jeju into a Free International City. We are currently seeking to establish branch campuses of outstanding foreign universities for an appropriate balance between elementary and secondary education institutions and higher education institutions. In addition, branch campuses will effectively complete Jeju’s quest to become a truly global education city. We will discuss implications, policy tasks, and promotion strategies regarding the internationalization of education in Jeju Global Education City through an overview of the current trends in internationalizing education in Asian countries and comparative studies of top foreign university’s overseas campuses
establishments.
