Recently, the securities business has faced the necessity for changes. That is because both trading volume and money are decreasing. In the past, the main source of profit for domestic securities firms was the trading fee from individual as well as institutional investors. In particular, analysis by research centers for institutional investors was very important. Additionally, research centers also secured profit through
business with institutional investors. However, as trading by institutional investors is decreasing, the
profit of research centers is also dramatically declining. There is no current indication for an increase in trading by institutional investors. This session discusses the strategies of research centers that are looking for the ‘new way’ in such a changed securities situation.
