In an era of social responsibility, it is critical to understand ISO 26000. Foreign firms have actively adopted and taken corporate social responsibility (CSR) as a core strategy for the improvement of their competitiveness. In Korea, however, it’s been reported that more than half of the top 100 firms aren’t ready yet to properly respond to ISO 26000. Recently, in addition, the number of firms that try to adopt customized Creating Shared Value (CSV) in addition to CSR by considering the characteristics of a type of business is on the rise. After all, they aim to create public values and economic benefits at the same time. Moreover, CSR has been understood as a concept of essential business, not just social return in that it can reveal sustainable management-focused tasks and achievements and bring ‘human and technology ’-centered sustainable activities. In this session, the international standards of CSR and how Asian firms handle them are presented by Kim Young-ho, the chairman of the Korean CSR Standardization Forum.
