Following Kim Jong-un’s 2018 New Year’s speech, President Moon Jae-in launched his peace initiative, which eventually led to North Korea’s participation in the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. Since then, and unprecedentedly, President Moon and Chairman Kim met three times in a short span of time. Moreover, for the first time in history, Washington and Pyongyang were able to hold a summit in Singapore in June 2018. How should we assess President Moon’s efforts? South Koreans are clearly divided on this matter. In this session, foreign experts will provide their assessments.
