With the Trump Administration broadening Asia policy to include the Indo-Pacific region and the Moon Administration unveiling its New Southern Policy, what does the shift in focus mean for Northeast Asia? What are the United States and South Korea’s shared goals and objectives in the Indo-Pacific region, and what do economists, policymakers, activists, academics, and journalists in the region need to know about current U.S. policy to ensure that the United States and its partners in the region continue to uphold and pursue shared values and ambitions on security, regional integration, innovation, and good governance? This panel brings U.S. diplomats past and present to Jeju for a discussion about key geopolitical and economic challenges in the region.
