Approximately 80% of global trade is conducted via the sea, so geopolitical risks and conflicts surrounding the global supply chain and marine resources can have a significant impact on the global economy. In addition, climate crises such as rising sea levels and ocean temperatures, ocean acidification, loss of marine biodiversity, and marine pollution are threats to the global security environment and economic stability, such as food shortages and climate refugees. Therefore, efficient management of the oceans and marine resources, which cover 70% of the Earth, and easing tensions and maintaining peace between countries are more important than ever. This session will examine current and emerging issues in the international community in terms of economic security, maritime security, and climate and environmental security, and discuss for future global security cooperation.
